This is a boat unlike anything else you’ve ever seen. The Baja Skimmer is so unique that it has to be registered under Category “X”, because California has no classification that fits this boat. Baja Skimmer can best be described as a cross between a jet ski and an airboat. The driver and passenger sit motorcycle-style, like on a jet ski. Propulsion is provided by an air propeller, like on an airboat. That’s where the similarities end. 

The Baja Skimmer incorporates the stabilizing features of a traditional “V” hull and the drag reducing features of a tunnel hull. This combination gives the boat superior stability and handling qualities. Side boards and stub wings deflect all spray, keeping the occupants dry throughout their ride. This exclusive design has allowed us to develop a shallow draft craft, with a great deal of stability, that can operation in as little as 7” of water.

The true secret to the Baja Skimmer’s performance, though, is its Whisper Fan propulsion. For over a decade Trek Aerospace has been researching, developing and building advanced ducted propeller aircraft for the Defense Department. The sophisticated duct technology provides increased thrust at lower noise levels. Trek Aerospace has made that superior technology available to boaters.

Baja Skimmer Applications

Baja Skimmer delivers all the exhilaration of the speed of a jet ski with 1/3 of the power. You can fly across the water using significantly less fuel in the process. When this advanced technology is applied to boats you get three times the fun on the same amount of fuel.

Baja Skimmer provides this rush while maintaining an environmental conscience. The “V” hull prevents its use over mudflats and grassmats; sparing developing vegetation and nesting wildlife. The fan pushes air not water; no sediments are stirred up by Baja Skimmer’s passage. The Whisper Fan system is quieter than all airboats and most jet skis and outboards. The muffled, 4-stroke engine puts no exhaust gases or oils into the water. After a day of excitement on the water, you can go home knowing you’ve left minimal impact on the waterway.
